Shaylyn King is an artist based in Grand Falls-Windsor, NL. Often recognised under her alias Slash Studios, Shaylyn holds a BFA in Visual Arts from Memorial University. Her personal work include mediums such as ink, acrylic, watercolour, clay, digital illustration and more to evoke alternate views of the familiar (ie. newfoundland scenes, objects, and animals). She enjoys playing with humour within art and began to teach different mediums in 2018 to adults and children alike. She is a strong advocate for creative thinking and employing a positive attitude when pushing one’s own boundaries. She believes it is important practice to think and act in areas where one may not feel so comfortable at first, allowing self-confidence to grow.
