Teresa Kachanoski

(Past Chair)

Teresa Kachanoski was born and raised in the Province of Quebec where she began her art practice and training in the 70’s. Her interests have ranged from life drawing and landscape painting to various printmaking techniques. She completed a BFA in 2005 at the University of Alberta. She has lived in five other provinces before settling in Newfoundland & Labrador where she finds inspiration in the rugged terrain and dramatic coastline. She is in her second term as chair of VANL and serves on the Arts Advisory committee for the City of St.John’s and the Acquisitions Committee for The Rooms Provincial Art Gallery. She is represented by the Leyton Gallery of Fine Art in St.John’s NL.


Amber-Lynn Thorne

Amber-Lynn Thorne is an interdisciplinary visual artist based out of Thornlea, Newfoundland — situated on the isthmus of the Avalon Peninsula. She is a recent graduate of the Visual Arts Program at Grenfell Campus, Memorial University of Newfoundland. She is currently exploring the relationship between artist and subject through multiple projects that focus on social discomfort, mutual understanding and careful honesty. She explores portraiture in painting, photography, video, print media and drawing.
