VANL-CARFAC is honouring ten years of the Excellence in Visual Arts Awards (the EVAs) by adding a new EVA Award to this year’s ceremony! Sponsored by the Christina Parker Gallery, the EVA People’s Choice Award will use a new online voting format.
Award sponsor, Christina Parker, said: “The EVA People’s Choice Award offers Newfoundlanders and Labradorians an opportunity to share their voices, to nominate and then choose an artist who they feel deserves recognition for his or her outstanding work in the field of visual art.”
Nominations are open now and can be made until April 30th, 2015 by visiting www.evapeopleschoiceaward.com Following the month long nomination process, voting for the winner will begin on May 1st 2015 and will run until June 4th. The artist with the most votes from the community will be recognized with a prize of $1000.
“We’re very excited to launch this new award to help commemorate 10 years celebrating Excellence in Visual Arts,” says VANL board member, Hillary Winter. “We see this as just one more way to recognize the immense talent this province has to offer. We’re putting the power into the hands of the people!”
The winning artist will be announced at the Excellence in Visual Arts Awards ceremony on June 5th 2015 at The Rooms, St. John’s, Newfoundland. For more information or to arrange interviews, contact Program Coordinator, Kathy Oke at firstname.lastname@example.org or 709-738-7303.
