Janet Davis is a professional artist located in Central Newfoundland. Janet creates interdisciplinary images based on her daily life in out port Newfoundland. A salt cod, a cup of tea, the ocean, and other images are represented with emotional authority of a self-portrait. These things are not just interesting forms or textures for her as an artist. The ocean provides opportunities, and a profession to eight generations of her family. In short, it is part of her identity. Her most recent solo show, Surfacing, was exhibited at the Craft Council Gallery this past May. Janet currently resides in Wesleyville, where she runs Norton’s Cove Studio.
